A great Uncle

Posted on May 18th, 2016

Sure do miss Uncle Leo, I remember when I was just small, me and Uncle Leo went to church early one Sunday evening and went walking out in the graveyard just the two of us and I stepped on one of the foot stones and a swarm of Yellow Jackies came out from under it and covered both of my feet. I was allergic to them, scared Uncle Leo and me of course he jerked me up and ran with me to the car. We went from Shiloh Church to our house in 5 minutes or less! I remember he was shaking all over and scared to death! Sure do miss him!

My Best Friend

Posted on May 15th, 2014

Leo was my best friend. We played music together,we camped together, we even helped each other move into new houses. Leo brought his boys to my house nearly every afternoon after work. We were so close some times the dispatchers would call the firehouse by phone when he had a call because they knew he was there with me. I still miss him every day.

A Good Friend, A Great Officer

Leo was a good friend, a great officer, and the type of guy you knew you could depend on. When he was working I never worried about back-up, Leo was always there.

A Kid at Heart

Posted on May 16th, 2012

Leo put his family first and was kid at heart. I remember that he only made $7,500 dollars a year being a police officer so it was hard raising three boys and making ends meet. One day he came home and told me that he had thought about me at work. He pulled a 1 cent piece of bubble gum from his pocket and gave it to me. He knew that I loved bubble gum and that 1 cent piece of gum meant more to me than a diamond as big as my head. That was just the kind of man and father that he was.

Everybody Deserved a Chance to do Right

Posted on May 16th, 2012

Dad believed that everybody deserved a chance to do right. Not having my father around I had to learn alot from others, but I’ve taken the lessons that I learned during my short time with my father and applied them to being a father myself. Through teaching me how to play baseball I learned the importance of spending time with my family. I’m honored to have named my son Leo after my father and try to live by his example every day. I remember the little things, like him giving all the neighborhood kids rides on his police motorcycle in our front yard. These are memories I cherish.

Dedicated Officer

Posted on May 14th, 2012

It is heartwarming to hear so many positive and respectful words in relation to my father. He was dedicated to his family, friends and his career as a police officer. As a small child, I remember many afternoons of playing baseball in the front yard and many many laps in that very yard on his patrol Harley Davidson. He had many friends that he considered his brothers at the police department and I know he is still missed by them all.
